Bouncing back from anything— professionally or personally—is about knowing and believing that there is simply no one like you and that you deserve to be happy.

We are born to be our unique selves; we are all perfectly imperfect. Sometimes we forget that we all deserve to be happy.
In my first book, Life Happens: Bounce Back! I used autobiographical accounts of key events in my life to explain my bouncing back strategy, the four-step “Bounce Back Into You” plan, which is the backbone of my motivational talks and workshops where I teach the art of self-love.
My message is this: We all need to develop self-love if we are to find the ability to handle adversity. By learning to love and accept yourself unconditionally, you develop the self-confidence and resiliency needed to overcome life’s obstacles and even come out on top.
This plan is a practical and useful guide that can be used by anyone at any age or stage in life.
1. Get Clarity.
Recognize the situations in your life that are making you unhappy and the underlying beliefs that helped create those situations. Begin to journal about this and you’ll begin to see clarity.
2. Get Real.
Determine exactly what your responsibilities and roles are in your negative situations. Be honest.
3. Get a Vision.
Figure out what the best version of you is, and what kind of life you really want to have. Where do you see yourself in six months? A year? You need a vision. Write it down and read it every day.
4. Get Going!
Create a plan to change your beliefs so that you can create the life you want. What is the first action you can take today to begin to create the life you want?
5. Learn to Love Yourself.
There is one very important lesson that I live by: Once you learn to love yourself and believe in yourself, the rest of your life will fall into place. I know I cannot bounce back when life happens without loving myself unconditionally.
